A player for your station, on your own website
Every MAWCast station has a web player you can paste into your own site as a single iframe. You choose its look in Control, copy the snippet Control writes for you, and the page around it stays yours.
What is the MAWCast web player?
Your station already has its own page at yourstation.mawcast.com, with a player on it. The web player is that same station in a box you can paste somewhere else: your own website, a blog, a venue's page.
It shows what state the station is in: LIVE when a DJ is broadcasting, AUTODJ when the rotation is playing something, and offline otherwise. When the station is off air, pressing play plays the preview track chosen on the public page, if one is set. While AutoDJ is on air, the player plays your station's stream and shows the track, its artist and title and the time elapsed. When a DJ connects, the player is already on that stream, so listeners hear the show straight away, and AutoDJ again when it ends; the times show — during a live show, because a live show has no track clock.
The controls are play/pause, plus a speaker for volume and mute. The sleeve on the turntable shows a mark you choose (MAWCast's, your station's logo or your own), never a track's cover art. The player looks like your station, whatever is playing.
How do I add it to my site?
Open Control → Web Player
Choose the look (see the next section) and save. The preview shows your station's real state.
Pick a size
Card (440 px tall) or hero (460 px tall, a wider card). The size decides the layout.
Copy the embed code
Control writes your station's address and the right height into it.
Paste it into your site
Anywhere your site builder or template accepts custom HTML.
The snippet looks like this, with your station's address in it:
<iframe src="https://yourstation.mawcast.com/embed" width="100%" height="440" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay" title="My Radio player"></iframe>| Attribute | Why it is there |
|---|---|
src | Your station's player address. |
width | The full width of wherever you paste it. Change it if you want it narrower. |
height | 440 for the card, 460 for the hero. It has to match the size chosen in Control. |
allow | Lets the player start audio inside the frame once the listener presses play. |
title | What a screen reader announces the frame as. Keep it. |
The player never starts on its own. Browsers block audio that starts before the visitor has interacted with the page, and allow="autoplay" permits playback inside the frame; it does not force it.
The height in the snippet and the size in Control have to agree. Change the size in Control, copy the snippet again and replace the old one.
Step by step, with each attribute explained: embed the player.
What can I change?
| Setting | Options |
|---|---|
| Turntable | On or off. The record and its sleeve turn while the player is playing. |
| Now playing | On or off. |
| Accent | One of four: MAWCast orange, a lighter orange, white or grey. |
| Sleeve logo | MAWCast's, your station's logo, or your own picture. |
| Size | Card (440 px) or hero (460 px). |
The sleeve logo is the web player's own setting, in Control → Web Player. Your station's logo is the address set on your station page. If you choose your station's logo before setting one, MAWCast's mark is printed until you do. More in web player settings.
What the player does not do
- It plays only your MAWCast station. It is not a player for other Icecast or Shoutcast streams.
- It does not autoplay. The listener presses play.
- No skipping or shuffling. The skip and shuffle symbols on the card are decoration: a listener cannot skip or shuffle a radio station.
- No listener figures on the player. There is no listener count or recently-played list on the player itself. Your listener analytics (current listeners, peaks, averages and a listener timeline) are in Control.
- It carries a small MAWCast link. The player shows a MAWCast wordmark that opens mawcast.com.
- It is not a custom domain. Embedding the player keeps listeners on your own site. A custom listener domain for your station page is a separate feature, on Broadcast and Network.
The player is the only MAWCast page another site can put in a frame. Your station page and Control cannot be framed by other sites.
What does it cost?
The web player comes with every plan. The plans differ in stations, listeners at once, sound quality and storage:
| Plan | Per month | Stations | Listeners at once | Live quality | AutoDJ quality | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €1.99 | 1 | 100 | 128 kbps | 128 kbps | 5 GB |
| Air | €4.99 | 1 | 500 | 320 kbps | 256 kbps | 25 GB |

| Network | €19.99 | 10 | Unlimited | 320 kbps | 256 kbps | 500 GB |
Prices are per month and include VAT. Paying yearly gives you two months free. There is no free plan: you can try Starter for 3 days, which needs a verified payment method, and the trial itself is never charged. Full details on the pricing page.
