MAWCast

MAWCast vs RadioKing: prices, limits and what each does

MAWCast plans start at €1.99 a month and RadioKing's start at €14. MAWCast Starter allows 100 listeners at once and 5 GB of storage. RadioKing Discover allows 50 listeners, 1 GB and 150 listening hours a month. Both stream at 128 kbps. RadioKing has things MAWCast does not offer: mobile apps (a paid option), AAC streams and a 14-day trial with no card. If you need those, RadioKing is the better choice. If you need AutoDJ, a schedule, live shows, listener analytics and a public page on a small budget, MAWCast costs less.

RadioKing facts were checked on radioking.com on 22 September 2026. RadioKing publishes its prices in euros, so no conversion is needed. MAWCast prices include VAT; we did not find how RadioKing's prices treat VAT on its pricing page.

How do the prices and limits compare?

The two tables below are kept separate on purpose. The plans do not line up tier for tier, so pairing them would suggest an equivalence that is not there. RadioKing also limits listening hours per month, which MAWCast's plans do not list, so the numbers measure different things.

RadioKing's pricing page offers yearly billing as "2 months free". The page does not say how many stations each plan includes.

How to read the two tables:

  • At the entry level, MAWCast Starter (€1.99) allows 100 listeners at once and 5 GB. RadioKing Discover (€14) allows 50 listeners, 1 GB and 150 listening hours a month. Both stream at 128 kbps.
  • The cheapest plan with unlimited listeners at once is Broadcast (€9.99, 3 stations) on MAWCast and Start (€29, 20,000 listening hours a month) on RadioKing.
  • For live shows at 320 kbps, MAWCast starts at Air (€4.99). On RadioKing, 320 kbps appears only on Business (€99).

MAWCast is not the cheapest hosting you can buy, and a lower price does not make it the same product. Both include listener statistics on every plan; RadioKing adds weekly audience reports on its higher plans.

What do both do?

  • AutoDJ from a media library, with playlists. See MAWCast's AutoDJ. RadioKing also offers smart playlists that update themselves by criteria such as track length or year.
  • A schedule for your shows. See the station schedule.
  • Live shows from your own broadcasting software. RadioKing says it is compatible with most solutions. MAWCast accepts any Icecast-compatible encoder, such as BUTT or Mixxx.
  • An embeddable player. MAWCast has an embeddable web player. RadioKing offers a free radio player widget and other widgets.

Neither includes a music licence. Licensing is covered further down.

What does RadioKing have that MAWCast does not?

  • Weekly audience reports, with Pro and Business. Both services show real-time listener statistics; see what MAWCast measures.
  • Mobile apps for iPhone and Android, sold as a separate paid option, plus smart speaker apps.
  • AAC streams, from Pro. MAWCast streams MP3 only.
  • More widgets: top tracks, current and next track, and audio shout-outs (from Pro).
  • A radio website product, and a Radio Page from Pro.
  • A 14-day free trial with no credit card, against MAWCast's 3 days with a verified payment method.
  • A longer track record. MAWCast is new.

Which RadioKing plan includes which of these changes over time. Check RadioKing's pricing page for the current split.

What does MAWCast do differently?

  • Price, with the limits shown. 100 listeners at once from €1.99 (Starter), 500 from €4.99 (Air), and unlimited from €9.99 (Broadcast), with VAT included.
  • Live shows are not refused for quality. A live show sent above your plan's bitrate is accepted and re-encoded to your plan's bitrate.
  • A permanent history of every broadcast on every plan. See what each Broadcast Session keeps.
  • Discord. MAW Assistant in Discord sends station notifications and show reminders, and answers quick actions and diagnostics from a direct message.
  • A public page on every plan. Each station gets a page at <station>.mawcast.com, with a web player, listener chat and reactions. Broadcast and Network can use a custom domain for listeners.
  • Listener analytics on every plan. Current listeners, peaks, averages and a listener timeline, with permanent history.
  • A team. Broadcasters with permissions (1, 2, 6 or 20 team members, depending on plan).
  • MAWCast Studio, a desktop broadcaster for Windows, is included free with every plan: sign in, pick your station, press GO LIVE.

Who should choose which?

Choose RadioKing if you need apps for your listeners, AAC streams, weekly audience reports, a built-in radio website, or a long free trial without a card.

Choose MAWCast if you run one to a few stations with AutoDJ and scheduled live shows, your community is on Discord, your budget is a few euros a month, and you want listener analytics and a free desktop broadcaster (MAWCast Studio) included.

What MAWCast deliberately does not do

  • Song requests.
  • Music licences. MAWCast does not provide them.
  • AAC, Opus or Ogg streams. Output is MP3.
  • Mobile apps.
  • Recording of broadcasts.

Switching from RadioKing: what it involves

  • Music. Upload your library to MAWCast from your own copies of the files, within your plan's storage. MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A and FLAC are accepted, up to 150 MB per file. Formats other than MP3 are converted to MP3 at 320 kbps. See supported formats.
  • Playlists and schedule. There is no importer. You recreate them by hand in Control.
  • Live shows. Connect the encoder you already use with the details from Control. It works with BUTT and Mixxx.
  • Addresses. Your station page moves to <station>.mawcast.com and the stream address changes. Replace RadioKing players on your website with the MAWCast web player, and update directory listings and any apps that point at the old stream.
  • Overlap. Keep RadioKing running until the new station has been tested. RadioKing's FAQ says you can stop a subscription at any time and it ends on the next due date.

Music licensing

Neither service gives you the right to broadcast music. RadioKing's FAQ says it "does not provide any rights for the broadcasting of musical works" and sends you to the licensing bodies in your country. MAWCast does not provide licences either. See what the subscription does not cover. This is general information, not legal advice.
