Overview

What plays when nobody is live, and what decides the order.

Last updated September 20261 min read

AutoDJ is a source like any other: it connects to its own mountpoint and plays your rotation. What makes it different is that it gives way. A broadcaster who connects takes the air, and AutoDJ is there again when they leave.

What it needs

  • Media in the library.
  • At least one playlist with something in it.
  • Rotation switched on.

What it announces

AutoDJ tells the stream server what it started, once per track, so your page and your listeners' players show the right title. It announces what it is playing — never what it is about to play.

Joining mid-track

When AutoDJ takes over it joins the rotation where the clock is, not at the top of the track. Two listeners tuning in at the same moment hear the same thing.
