VirtualDJ
VirtualDJ's manual says its radio broadcast sends Icecast as Ogg; MAWCast takes MP3. MAWCast Studio captures VirtualDJ's audio directly and goes live with it.
VirtualDJ has a built-in broadcast to a radio server (Settings → Broadcast → Radio Server), and it needs a Pro Infinity or Pro Monthly licence. VirtualDJ's manual says that this broadcast streams Icecast in Ogg format, and MP3 only to Shoutcast servers (manual checked September 2026). MAWCast stations are Icecast and stream MP3, so the route this page documents is MAWCast Studio capturing VirtualDJ's audio and sending it to your station.
We document only what we can check. VirtualDJ's manual lists Ogg for Icecast, and MP3 for Shoutcast, which MAWCast is not. If your copy of VirtualDJ offers MP3 with Icecast, the values it needs are your station's connection details; we cannot confirm that option from VirtualDJ's documentation, so this page does not walk you through it. VirtualDJ's other broadcast options (video platforms, its own audio broadcast with a listener link, and podcasts) do not send to your station either.
Studio captures the audio of one application directly, so it can take VirtualDJ's output without a virtual audio device in between. It is included free with every plan, and signed in to your MAWCast account it already knows your stations — there is nothing to copy across and nothing to configure. See MAWCast Studio.
Install MAWCast Studio
Installer or portable — the portable build runs from a USB stick on a machine you do not own. See Installation.
Choose Application capture
Pick VirtualDJ from the list of programs. Studio takes its audio stream rather than what reaches your speakers, so your own volume and your cue mix do not change what goes out.
Pick your station and go live
Nothing to type: no hostname, no mountpoint, no password.
VirtualDJ-specific notes
- No licence for the Radio Server option. You do not need it: Studio captures VirtualDJ's audio whatever your licence.
- What goes on air is what VirtualDJ plays. Anything it outputs — a microphone left open, a sample you are testing — goes out with the music.
Check it worked
Control shows the station as live within a few seconds of the encoder connecting, and the public page follows. If it does not, the reason is almost always one of three things — see Connection errors. When you stop, listeners go back to AutoDJ if its rotation is on (see Mountpoints and fallback).
