Mountpoints and fallback
Why your station has two mounts and what happens on each of them.
Each station is built as a pair of mountpoints.
| Mount | Who connects | Listeners |
|---|---|---|
/myradio | Your broadcasting software | Yes — this is the public address |
/myradio-autodj | MAWCast AutoDJ | Not directly: it is hidden |
The fallback
The station mount falls back to the AutoDJ mount. When no broadcaster is connected, the server moves listeners to the rotation; when one connects, they come back. Nobody has to reload anything.
Why AutoDJ has its own mount
Icecast gives a mount to whoever connected first. If AutoDJ held the public mount, your own encoder would find it taken.
The AutoDJ mount is not advertised
It is marked hidden, so it does not appear in directories and is not a second address for your station. It exists for the fallback to point at.
